St. Paul's Chapel - Infrared image

St. Paul's Chapel - Infrared image

The story of St. Paul's Chapel is remarkable from many standpoints. Built in 1766, it is the oldest, continuous use building in Lower Manhattan. Although just yards away from both the North and South Towers, the collapse of the Towers did no structural damage to St. Paul's, not even windows were broken! The Chapel became the center point during rescue and recovery efforts and was used for nearly ten months to provide a relief and rest center for recovery workers. There are several images of the interior of St. Paul's in this exhibit where many of the memorials are prominently lining the interior walls.
