Wild horse, Cumberland Island

Well known to visitors to Cumberland Island are the "wild" horses. Actually, feral horses that are the descendants of the original horses brought to the island by the Spanish several centuries ago, the horses roam freely on the island, struggling to find eatable nourishment in the sparse grasses.
