Dungeness was a palatial residence of the Carnegie family. Built originally by Revolutionary War hero Nathianial Greene in 1783, it was rebuilt in 1884 by Thomas Carnegie of Pittsburgh. It burned down in 1959, after a fire that was supposedly set by a disgruntled poacher. Today, it sits in repose as a reminder of the bygone era on Cumberland. emPhoto by David Batley/em
